Find your Passport and pack your bags as we are heading to another one of our most requested tour destinations: Canada! You will be in awe of the warmth of the Canadian people, the breath-taking natural beauty of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and the many unique experiences we have searched to find for you.
This one is filled with many experiences you will not find in any other tour itineraries. Another Montam Tours Brand-New Exclusive! Sit back, relax and enjoy our travel day north through North Dakota to the border and on to Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada for our first overnight at the beautiful Fairfield by Marriott. How many providences do you think we will visit on our journey? First up: Saskatchewan! We begin our Canadian visit with a truly unique experience: the Royal Mounted Police Academy Heritage Center and training depot. The RCMP have been part of Canada's Confederation since 1867 and we will visit the Heritage Centre, home to their story. Explore over a century of history and discover rare artifacts exclusively here, including an original 1873 uniform. Told through informative exhibits and a driving simulator, you will be transported thru the "March of the Mounties" and its evolution from a frontier police service to what it is today. Since 1885, every RCMP officer has gone through Depot training and we will experience a behind-the-scenes look at training, featuring special access to observe the daily Sergeant Major's Parade on the historic parade square. Our hour-long, guided tram tour will stop at the historic Chapel, the oldest building in Regina, The Cenotaph and the eternal flame, learn about the town of Buffalo and lastly observe cavalry drills by real Cadets in training. After learning about the RCMP, we will travel through Medicine Hat to Calgary for our overnight at the Residence Inn by Marriott, Calgary South, our home for the next 2 nights in Calgary. We have arrived in the providence of Alberta, our 2nd and final providence. It's Friday and what a Friday is in store for you at The Greatest Show on Earth: The Calgary Stampede! Today is all about visiting an authentic Alberta experience. The Midway, the live music, the Stampede Showband, the Young Canadians of the Calgary Stampede dancers, the Dog Bowl, the shopping and let's not forget about all the food from fair standards to really unique foods, this day definitely has it all! It all comes down to skill of the cowboys and the quality of the stock at the afternoon rodeo and the CS evening show double-header. Witness the Cowboys Rangeland Derby Chuckwagon races and then the fan-favorite Relay Races followed by the Indigenous Relay Racing teams. Did your favorite cowboy, cowgirl or team win their events? The evening will conclude with the Grandstand show so be ready to be blown away with elaborate song and dance numbers, acrobatics and wraps up with a spectacular fireworks finale! Be prepared to stay out past your bedtime but it will be worth it. Since we kept you out late last night, sleeping in will be on the itinerary. Our included lunch will be at Sky 360, Calgary's revolving restaurant on top of the Calgary Tower, which offers magnificent views of the city and the Rocky Mountains. We will even be able to see the Stampede grounds buzzing with its Saturday hustle and bustle. This afternoon, we will depart Calgary for the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary for a rare visit with these beautiful animals. Our tour takes us inside an enclosure with a large viewing platform accompanied by one of the guides. Enjoy the opportunity to learn about the sanctuary (not a zoo but they live out their lives being well taken care of), and an introduction to what wolfdogs are all about. The Sanctuary currently has 55+ permanent wolfdogs, which includes 10 ambassador wolfdogs who take part in visits. The Wolfdog content level refers to how much wolf content each animal has in them. Wolfdogs are very different than a house dog and strict rules for visiting must be followed. A self-guided Sanctuary Walk and shopping time in the gift shop included. Town of Banff, Alberta, Canada here we come! Banff is a resort town in the Banff National Park, located in Alberta's Rockies along the Trans-Canada Highway. You must be employed or own a business located within Banff National Park in order to live in the town of Banff, but we are lucky to be able to spend a few glorious days visiting. The town is surrounded by mountains, notably Mount Rundle, Sulphur Mountain, Mount Norquay and Cascade Mountain and is situated above Bow Falls. Stand on Banff Ave and you will soak in the beauty of the mountains, looming in the distance. Tonight, we will discover the beauty of six mountains ranges from the panoramic observation deck of the Banff Gondola and watch the clouds roll by. Hike along the Sulphur Mountains Boardwalk for beautiful views of the town of Banff below. We will savor our dinner buffet at the Northern Lights Alpine Kitchen, only reachable by riding in a gondola car to the top. Beauty surrounds you everywhere you look. Today, we tap into our can-do-spirit with six hours at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. Experience firsthand the sights, sounds and sensations of America's fascinating formation, where over 80 acres brim with resourcefulness and ingenuity. Step foot in the lab where Thomas Edison had his lightbulb moment or the workshop where the Wright brothers taught us to reach for the sky. Vouchers will allow you to take a ride in a real Model T, jump on a real steam-powered locomotive and visit the 7 historic districts. Overnight is at the Detroit Marriott Livonia, located next door to Laurel Park Place Mall. Discover your drive as we get an inside look at the making of America's most iconic truck, the Ford F-150, as we witness workers building a truck right before our eyes at the Ford Factory Rouge Plant Tour. We'll step into the world of Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation as we visit the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by taking a seat, or check inside Buckminster Fuller's circular Dymaxion House. See vehicles that transported 20th century Presidents, reflect as you view the rocking chair President Lincoln was assassinated in and oh so much more. Our next two overnights will be enjoyed at the Bavarian Inn Lodge located in Michigan's Little Bavaria, Frankenmuth. This morning, we will be turned into German bakers at our pretzel-rolling class and of course, we will reap our rewards after our Frankenmuth City tour with local guide. Start your Christmas shopping early at Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland which just happens to be the world's largest Christmas store. Stroll over to Bronner's Silent Night Memorial Chapel, a replica of the original chapel located in Oberndorf, Austria. The peaceful Chapel consists of a walk-thru area, information about the composers of Silent Night and a reproduction of the original musical score. The Glockenspiel Tower houses a magnificent 35-bell carillon, a beautiful figurine movement and an illuminate clock, all imported from Germany. Late this afternoon, we will enjoy a narrated cruise on the Cass River on the Bavarian Belle Riverboat to learn Frankenmuth history. Dinner will be included with Frankenmuth's World Famous Chicken dinner, served family style at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. Our first stop as we enter Mackinaw City will be at the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse for a self-guided tour. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum make this Cast of the Straits a true gem of the Great Lakes. We'll spend some time at Mackinaw Crossings before we board Shepler's Ferry and glide across Lake Huron to Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island is the truly "all natural theme park of America." Limited transportation to horse and buggy, bicycle or foot and surrounded by water, it has escaped the vast changes of time. As soon as you step off the Ferry, you will find yourself in a living Victorian village. We'll get checked in The Island House hotel which boasts beautifully renovated Victorian style rooms. You will have the remainder of today to enjoy as you wish. It's Thursday morning already and time for our narrated, horse-drawn Carriage Tour of the Island. Our lunch will be at the legendary Grand Hotel Buffet after which time you are free to explore the Grand Hotel and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon and evening on your own. Enjoy your morning on Mackinac Island before Shepler's Ferry will once again whisk us across Lake Huron for our return to the main land. We'll drive the five-mile long Mighty Mac suspension bridge. The Mackinac Bridge is one of the world's most beautiful bridges and the longest suspension bridge in America. It's then time to bid a fond farewell to the beautiful Straits of Mackinac and begin our journey homeward. Our overnight will be at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, Eau Claire-Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
