Get set for one of the most requested tour destinations of all time! This one is a filled with many unique experiences that you will not find in any other tour itinerary! Fall in love with Upper Michigan, the people, the natural beauty and the experiences you can only find with Montam Tours!
Sit back, relax and enjoy our travel day east through Minnesota and on to Marinette, Wisconsin for our first overnight at the beautiful Independence Hotel & Suites. Get ready for some exciting days ahead! We begin our day with a truly unique tour destination: London Dairy Alpaca Ranch located in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Kevin and crew will share their love for their beloved Alpaca's as we interact and feed these beautiful and friendly animals. We will learn about use of their fiber and understand the uniqueness of this century owned family ranch. Of course we'll shop at the Alpaca Threads gift and wine shop! This afternoon, we will load the coach on the S.S. Badger for our four-hour cruise across Lake Michigan between Manitowoc and Ludington, Michigan. Enjoy Badger Bingo, a movie lounge, gift shop plus full food and beverage. Overnight is at the Drury Inn & Suites, Grand Rapids, Michigan. Today, we tap into our can-do-spirit with six hours at Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. Experience firsthand the sights, sounds and sensations of America's fascinating formation, where over 80 acres brim with resourcefulness and ingenuity. Step foot in the lab where Thomas Edison had his lightbulb moment or the workshop where the Wright brothers taught us to reach for the sky. Vouchers will allow you to take a ride in a real Model T, jump on a real steam-powered locomotive and visit the 7 historic districts. Overnight is at the Detroit Marriott Livonia, located next door to Laurel Park Place Mall. Discover your drive as we get an inside look at the making of America's most iconic truck, the Ford F-150, as we witness workers building a truck right before our eyes at the Ford Factory Rouge Plant Tour. We'll step into the world of Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation as we visit the bus where Rosa Parks took a stand by taking a seat, or check inside Buckminster Fuller's circular Dymaxion House. See vehicles that transported 20th century Presidents, reflect as you view the rocking chair President Lincoln was assassinated in and oh so much more. Our next two overnights will be enjoyed at the Bavarian Inn Lodge located in Michigan's Little Bavaria, Frankenmuth. This morning, we will be turned into German bakers at our pretzel-rolling class and of course, we will reap our rewards after our Frankenmuth City tour with local guide. Start your Christmas shopping early at Bronner's CHRISTmas Wonderland which just happens to be the world's largest Christmas store. Stroll over to Bronner's Silent Night Memorial Chapel, a replica of the original chapel located in Oberndorf, Austria. The peaceful Chapel consists of a walk-thru area, information about the composers of Silent Night and a reproduction of the original musical score. The Glockenspiel Tower houses a magnificent 35-bell carillon, a beautiful figurine movement and an illuminate clock, all imported from Germany. Late this afternoon, we will enjoy a narrated cruise on the Cass River on the Bavarian Belle Riverboat to learn Frankenmuth history. Dinner will be included with Frankenmuth's World Famous Chicken dinner, served family style at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant. Our first stop as we enter Mackinaw City will be at the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse for a self-guided tour. Authentically restored quarters and exhibits and the Straits of Mackinac Shipwreck Museum make this Cast of the Straits a true gem of the Great Lakes. We'll spend some time at Mackinaw Crossings before we board Shepler's Ferry and glide across Lake Huron to Mackinac Island. Mackinac Island is the truly "all natural theme park of America." Limited transportation to horse and buggy, bicycle or foot and surrounded by water, it has escaped the vast changes of time. As soon as you step off the Ferry, you will find yourself in a living Victorian village. We'll get checked in The Island House hotel which boasts beautifully renovated Victorian style rooms. You will have the remainder of today to enjoy as you wish. It's Thursday morning already and time for our narrated, horse-drawn Carriage Tour of the Island. Our lunch will be at the legendary Grand Hotel Buffet after which time you are free to explore the Grand Hotel and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon and evening on your own. Enjoy your morning on Mackinac Island before Shepler's Ferry will once again whisk us across Lake Huron for our return to the main land. We'll drive the five-mile long Mighty Mac suspension bridge. The Mackinac Bridge is one of the world's most beautiful bridges and the longest suspension bridge in America. It's then time to bid a fond farewell to the beautiful Straits of Mackinac and begin our journey homeward. Our overnight will be at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, Eau Claire-Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
