Join us as we celebrate a double-theater weekend April 18-19, 2020 in the Twin Cities as we enjoy The Music Man at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater and The Last Ship at the Ordway Performing Arts Center!
The Chanhassen Dinner Theater is proud to present The Music Man which follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band that he vows to organize-this, despite the fact that he doesn’t
know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain’s fall . This musical theatre classic features songs like “(Ya Got) Trouble,” “Seventy-Six Trombones,” “The Wells Fargo Wagon,” “Till There was You,” “Gary, Indiana” and more! Meredith Willson’s six-time, Tony Award-winning musical comedy has been entertaining audiences since 1957. We'll also enjoy a order from the menu, pre-show dinner as well.
Calling all Sting fans! Sunday will have us enjoying a regional premier at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, The Last Ship! The Last Ship is an epic tale of community, hope, and a great act of collective defiance. When a sailor named Gideon Fletcher returns home after 17 years at sea, tensions between past and future flare in both his family and his town. The local shipyard, around which Wallsend has always revolved, is closing, and
no one knows what will come next-only that a half-built ship towers over the terrace. With one engine fired and pistons in motion, picket lines are drawn as foreman Jackie and his wife Peggy fight to hold their community together in the face of the gathering storm. The Last ship features original music and lyrics by multiple Grammy award winner Sting. Sting will star as shipyard
foreman Jackie White and will perform the role at every performance. With personal experiences from Sting’s own childhood, this new musical is personal, political and passionate. Heartbreaking, uplifting, intimate and universal and one not to be missed!
We'll also enjoy shopping at Ridgedale Center and Westridge Market.
