No visit
to Oahu would be complete without a step back in history.
We'll start early as we explore and honor three historic sites that shaped the
outcome of WWII. Pearl Harbor will allow us to explore the shore-line exhibits, visitor's center,
and a short documentary of the attack. Then travel by Naval launch
to the USS Arizona Memorial for a poignant and solemn experience as
we pay our respects to the hundreds of Americans entombed below.
It's then time to go the Battleship Missouri where Doulas
MacArthur signed the treaty that ended WWII. The Mighty Mo has
served our nation through three wars and stands as an icon of
strength and freedom. We honor those who served our country at the
National Memorial Cemetery of th e Pacific. On our way to the hotel,
we'll drive thru Historic Honolulu to see the Hawaii State Capitol
and City Hall, Iolani Palace, King Kamehameha Statue and Kawaiahao
Church. Tonight, stroll the beach to the only luau on Waikiki Beach
at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel; we'll be greeted with a fresh flower
lei, Mai Tai or Fruit Punch and be seated for our sumptuous luau
buffet. The crowning glory of the luau is the music and
entertainment all under the stars with Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head as our backdrop. |

The Garden Isle of Kauai has a lush,
rural feel and a laid-back lifestyle all its own. After all,
it is Hawaii's oldest island and has a legacy of paradise to
uphold. A trip around Kauai is a feast of tropical forests,
cascading waterfalls, majestic mountains and almost daily
rainbows. Our port city is Nawiliwili. You'll stand in awe
of the dramatic Waimea Canyon dubbed as
Grand
Canyon of the Pacific or enjoy a lazy ride up the Wailua
River to the Fern Grotto. Maybe do a Tree Line Zipline or
get dirty on a mudbug adventure. Does the breath-taking
scenery remind you of something seen in a Hollywood
blockbuster film ? Jurassic Park, South Pacific, Fantasy Island,
Blue Hawaii and others have been filmed here--join a tour to
see for yourself. We are in port overnight. Oh, the memories
we're making... |

| FRIDAY, JANUARY 16, 2009 |
Welcome to another day in paradise!
Hawaii is a place that moves at its own temp and follows
it's own rules --you should do the same. Enjoy Kauai before
departing for Honolulu at 2:00 p.m. Mother nature has worked
on the Na Pali Coast for thousands of years, eroding its
volcanic mountains into knife-edged ridges that rise from
ocean's edge in vertical lines, their sheer slopes covered
in varying shades of velvety green. We will be treated to a
ship-board view of the Coast, a prime area for spinner
dolphins,
green sea turtles and Pacific humpback whales. Take in the
scenery as it slips past your private balcony. Tonight,
savor Freestyle cruising and discover your own style. |
| |
| SATURDAY, JANUARY 17, 2009 |
We arrive at Pier 2 in Honolulu this
morning but we're not done exploring paradise yet! We join
Robert's Hawaii Little Circle Island Tour after we
disembark. The eastern shores of Oahu are gorgeous and we'll
ride through Waikiki to Diamond Head Lookout then to Hanauma
Bay. The cliff-side road ventures on to Halona Point, Oahu's
Blow Hole, turning the corner at Makapuu to the windward
side of the island. Enjoy a beach side rest stop at
Waimanalo then onto Pali Lookout-perhaps the island's most
photographed vista-before we are dropped off at the airport.
All good things must come to an end and it's time to bid the
beautiful Islands a fond farewell and Mahalo. Our return
flight departs at 6:00 p.m. for a non-stop flight into
Minneapolis. |
